What has happened to us? We are completely absorbed in own phones so much of the time. Dead time used to be filled by reading books or newspapers or listening to music with headphones but in China today, like so many place it’s the phone which demands our attention.
I have found myself doing the same thing after being here for so long. I check the news on my phone on the way to work and if I could find a game I didn’t get bored with, I would play a game too.
Today I was later than normal and had to stand so I needed both hands which forced me, for one day only, to look around and see what everyone else was doing. We are crammed in together but all in our own worlds.
It’s a bit sad.
