Wink has finally arrived all the way from America to Shanghai. I bought it on Kickstarter many months ago and have been eagerly awaiting its arrived ever since.
Today I have spent the best part of 4 hours setting it up. It took me a very long time a forum post and a twitter message to work out how to switch it on (not a good start). This was not because I am especially stupid but because all the documentation had a completely different power switch and on the new model I have, it’s flush and looks nothing like any power switch I have ever seen before.
I have uploaded the standard software onto the beast and tried to write a program but unfortunately it doesn’t seem to recognise any of the pre-installed variables. So, the thing is still sitting on the table lifeless and my eyes are hurting from staring at this screen and trying everything to get the program compiled properly.
It’s like I am in a time warp – staring at code wondering why it won’t compile just like the old days but this time I am on my own – well if you don’t count the forums and after admitting that I couldn’t work out how to turn it on, I feel a bit self conscious about asking another stupid question.
The immense amount of documentation assumes that one has been able to switch it on (so doesn’t tell you hoe to do it) and assumes that you need no help with the pre-installed variables. Maybe it’s just me!
I think I need a breath of fresh air. Maybe something obvious will occur to me while I am away from him (yes it’s already male).
