Apparently this time of year the farmers burn their land ready for the new season. Word has it that between here and Shanghai crops are burning. Today the air was thick with dust. In fact it was so thick that you could barely see the next building. I took this photo from the examination centre at the South East Unniversity today. It gives a good idea of how bad it was today.
There was a small of burning and the atmosphere was yellow – I never thought it was possible but today it happened.Even when I was carrying out my interviews my eyes were stinging with the polution.
Tonight Sue held a dinner party for Mary Margaret, Gail and John and Caroline. It was hot hot hot and of course the air was thick wih polution so it was pretty unpleasant outside. But inside we ate roast chicken and played and sang country music so everyone was happy.
The air-con has bene on for hours set at 19 degrees but it still feels hot.
I decided to take a night-time polution shot from our flat. (see right)
